Stephen Parkinson

Grant and Innovation Coordinator

Biography

Stephen Parkinson is a grant and innovation coordinator working on the MICS project.

 Stephen joined Earthwatch in 2018 having obtained a BA degree in Geography from the University of Cambridge. Initially, he joined the freshwater team as a research assistant on the FreshWater Watch project. His role included supporting citizen scientists and other research partners; managing logistics including kit orders and delivery; and organising events such as the regular Thames WaterBlitzes.

 In 2019, Stephen began a new role as grant and innovation coordinator. His responsibilities include working on several EU-funded research projects, in particular the MICS project. He also helps to coordinate applications for new research funding: finding opportunities to apply to and helping to write proposals.

Projects

MICS (Horizon 2020)

Stephen is a research assistant for the MICS project and works on impact assessment methods as well as leading a work package focused on dissemination and outreach.

FreshWater Watch

In his previous role, Stephen helped to coordinate the FreshWater Watch project, organising WaterBlitzes and supporting citizen scientists with their data collection and study design.

GroundTruth2.0 (Horizon 2020)

In his previous role, Stephen was a research assistant for the Ground Truth 2.0 project and supported the citizen observatory VattenFokus with their ongoing water quality monitoring.
