Enabling scientists

We support scientific training opportunities for conservationists who are underfunded and in need of practical field experience. This enables future environmental leaders to realise their potential and ensure long-lasting, positive impacts on their community and the planet.

For more than 20 years, we have enhanced the skills and experience of underfunded conservationists and talented environmentalists working in environmental science, education and/or community engagement. We have empowered more than 760 scientists to take strides in their careers, through vital conservation research training on our projects, research grants and a global business mentoring scheme.

We are continually developing programmes to support the development of environmental professionals.

WHERE WE WORK

WHAT WE DO

Next Generation Jersey

We are offering the scientists of the future a Jersey-based summer internship and an Earthwatch Science Camp training programme.

Coral communities in the Seychelles

We offer training in coral reef conservation and socioeconomic research and community engagement in the Curieuse Island Marine Park.

Earth Skills Network

ESN connects business leaders to the conservation community through mentoring and skill-sharing opportunities, providing new resources to safeguard the future of vital conservation areas.

Earthwatch Shulman Awards

Thanks to the kind support of Neville Shulman CBE, we offer grants to help early career scientists conduct scientific research, join conferences, present their work and implement environmental research.

Internships

We are proud to offer office-based internships to early career scientists, and pay a living wage.

Philanthropy

In developing countries, essential conservation skills are often missing from academic training programmes, and funding to train the next generation of conservation leaders is scarce. We depend on funding and support from funding agencies, businesses and generous individuals to continue our outstanding programme of training emerging scientists.
