The next ten years for Earthwatch – a clear plan for our future.
At Earthwatch, we’ve always believed that people have a vital role to play in understanding and restoring the environment. Our new strategy builds on that experience. It gives us a clear sense of direction and focus for the years ahead, helping us make more of the things we already do well, while continuing to explore what’s possible. At the heart of this is our belief that people, science and environmental restoration are most powerful when they come together.

Taking citizen science further
Citizen science is already a big part of what we do. Every day, people are contributing observations, gathering data and building knowledge that can help us understand environmental change and respond to it.
Harry Barton, CEO, explained: “We’re all about bringing people, science and environmental restoration closer together. We believe that knowledge generated by, and belonging to, local communities is a crucial tool in helping that restoration happen. It’s not just our focus on citizen science that makes us different. It’s our determination to keep pushing the boundaries of what citizen science can achieve, making it an ever more powerful force for positive change. That’s the vision at the heart of this strategy.”
A focus for the years ahead
Our strategy brings together the work we’re already doing and the opportunities ahead of us. It helps us focus our energy, strengthen our partnerships and make sure our work has the greatest possible impact. We’ll continue to learn, experiment and develop new approaches, working alongside communities, scientists, partners and everyone who shares our ambition for a healthier environment.
The direction for the next ten years is clear: bring people and science closer to environmental restoration and make citizen science an increasingly powerful force for positive change.
