Help lead Earthwatch Europe’s next chapter: we’re recruiting a new Chair and a new Treasurer

Earthwatch Europe is an environmental charity with science at its heart. We help people protect the nature around them by supporting meaningful interactions with nature and giving communities, organisations and businesses the tools to act. Guided by science and powered by people, we create change through connection.

We’re entering an important new phase. Following a period of significant organisational change, Earthwatch Europe is focused on stability, long-term sustainability, and delivering a new 10-year strategy that increases impact and strengthens our future.

After ten years of dedicated leadership, our current Chair, Lucian Hudson, will step down. Our Treasurer will also step down after six years (two terms). We’re grateful for the steady judgement and commitment they have brought, and we are now looking for two new leaders to build on that strong platform. Chair (Trustee)

We’re seeking a Chair who can lead the Board with clarity, warmth and purpose — creating the space for constructive challenge, strong governance, and a relentless focus on priorities, delivery and sustainability.

What we’re looking for in both roles

We are particularly keen to hear from people with:

  • A strong track record of income generation and growth — fundraising, partnerships, commercial strategy, philanthropy, or comparable revenue leadership.
  • Experience leading organisations through significant change — including stabilisation, reset, renewal or recovery — while bringing people with you.
  • Desirable: knowledge of the environmental / science-led sector, and a commitment to evidence-led action.

Start date: March 2027 with time for handover (or earlier by discussion).
How to apply: Please use the links above to submit your CV and a short note (maximum one page) outlining the contribution you would make by Friday 19 June.
