Oman Earthwatch Field Research Programme 2024-2026
From 2009-2014, Earthwatch was invited to work in Oman to support scientific field research. We provided environmental education and experiential learning, trained early career scientists, promoted citizen science, and shared fieldwork results with communities. In 2013, the late His Majesty the Sultan of Qaboos bin Said made a generous endowment to Earthwatch Europe to continue this work through the Oman Earthwatch Field Research Programme.

Aims
This programme will support the current and next generation of conservationist practitioners, researchers and policy makers in Oman.
This will be done through expert guidance and content, practical training, peer learning, knowledge exchange and international exposure. In doing so, it will support Oman’s 2040 Vision National Priorities.
The core aim of the programme is to develop five impactful environmental research projects, one for each of the five identified focus areas.
It will also build the skills and capacity of Environment Authority and Diwan staff to design and deliver these projects now and in the future.
