Nature in Cities Partnerships
Working together to create urban green spaces where nature and people can thrive.
We are expanding our successful Tiny Forest and Green Earth School programs to include diverse natural solutions like urban meadows, orchards, wetlands, and food gardens. These small urban spaces hold immense power in protecting nature and driving urban recovery. Positioned in densely populated areas, they bring nature to people’s doorsteps, delivering significant environmental and social benefits.
We need your support
Earthwatch urgently needs support to enable us to consult more deeply with communities so that they have a say in the nature recovery plans for their neighbourhoods. We also want to focus some of our effort on flagship towns and cities where Earthwatch has numerous natural solutions coming together to help them truly thrive.
We are seeking to engage with over 100,000 people to create 500 natural solutions by 2030 and are already over half of the way there. We have deep relationships with local authorities – with over 250 sites in 30 towns and cities across the country where we can expand our work.
With your help we can build on our previous experience, creating more natural solutions that benefit both people and wildlife. You will be providing real social value, contributing to local communities.
Our work has enjoyed significant regional, national, and international media attention. Our Tiny Forest project, for example, has been featured in numerous outlets, including major UK newspapers, The New York Times, BBC News, and Blue Peter.

Our aim is to engage with over 100,00 people to create 500 natural solutions by 2030.
By 2030, we want to
- Create 500 natural solutions across the country – including Tiny Forests, meadows, wetlands and food gardens, as well as transforming school playgrounds.
- Establish 12 Champion cities and towns where numerous natural solutions have created a significant difference to both wildlife and people.
- Mobilise 100,00 people, primarily from under-represented groups, to take part in restoring nature.

What we have achieved so far
-
Over 250 Tiny Forests have been planted across the country containing more than 150,000 trees.
-
These have engaged over 20,000 people with 700 plus Tree Keepers continuing to monitor and look after their Tiny Forests
-
We will have created at least 20 Green Earth Schools by Spring 2025, helping students transform their school playgrounds for nature.
-
We created our first Tiny Meadow and Food Garden in October, 2024 and now wish to create these in other towns and cities.
