Are you interested in joining #TeamEarthwatch for the 2025 London Marathon to support our environmental work? Applications for our limited number of charity spaces are now closed. We are in the process of shortlisting the successful candidates who will hear back from us in the next couple of weeks.
Stories from our 2024 Team
On Sunday 21 April 2024, six fantastic runners took on the London Marathon for us as part of #TeamEarthwatch: Alex, Connor, Dean, Shaan, Ganzo and Yvette. All of them successfully crossed the finishing line and raised vital funds to go towards our environmental programmes. Here are some snapshots from the marathon day:
A special shout out goes to our runner Ganzo who has been officially acknowledged as fastest marathon runner wearing traditional Mongolian boots by Guinness World Records!
Why run for Earthwatch?
For over 30 years, Earthwatch Europe has been working with people to monitor, protect and restore nature. And our approach gets results! Working collaboratively with communities, scientists and organisations, we have increased our understanding of our planet and begun to address this damage through community-led solutions.
Funds raised by our marathon runners make a big difference and fuel our work. The next 30 years will be a critical time for our planet – as communities reverse the decline of nature in their cities, countryside and rivers.
I was keen to support a charity that has the largest impact on humanity possible. The climate and biodiversity crisis affect every person on earth. Nature needs repairing if we are to bring down emissions, and Earthwatch Europe are doing amazing things here in the UK and around the world to help with this. I was inspired by their stories of citizen scientists helping to collect data to feed into environmental research, and blown away by their Tiny Forest programme supporting wildlife and making our cities greener.
