Tiny Forest brings the benefits of a forest right into the heart of our cities and urban spaces.
Earthwatch planted the UK’s first Tiny Forest in 2020. Since then the movement has grown to over 290 forests, bringing together communities, local councils and businesses.
Breathing life back into our cities

Over 84% of the UK population live in urban areas. While urbanisation is increasing, UK urban green space is on an alarming downward trend. This means that people living in towns and cities have less and less access to nature. This is a big problem because we need nature. Nature has the power to boost our mental and physical wellbeing. Wild spaces provide places to escape, relax in, explore, and connect with others.
The UK is one of the most nature depleted countries in the world and ranks bottom in Europe for nature connectedness. Our lack of provision of wild urban spaces will continue to exacerbate these problems.
Since 2020 as part of our Nature in Cities work, Earthwatch has collaborated with partners and communities across the UK to plant nearly 300 Tiny Forests, bring nature to city schools and connect people with nature. By having a tree sponsored, you are helping us to bring nature to more urban communities.
