Earthwatch at 50: Emily Hamilton’s story

Emily Hamilton first heard about Earthwatch at a Royal Geographical Society Lecture. Having spent a childhood exploring nature and studying Environmental Science at university, an Earthwatch expedition gave her the perfect opportunity to contribute to research and travel at the same time. This experience has inspired Emily to continue pushing for sustainable development within her career, particularly through the creation of greener cities.

“During the Amazon Riverboat expedition I was lucky enough to encounter pink and grey dolphins interacting in a nursery ground – the first time this behaviour had ever been documented. That was an incredible moment.”

Emily is now Head of Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) at Savills Investment Management and a Trustee of the National Park City Foundation, a charity who aim to make London and at least 25 other cities greener, healthier and wilder through becoming National Park Cities.
