Our training opportunities are open to early career researchers, environment and conservation professionals working within the Indian Ocean region.
There are two types of training on offer, one specialising in marine conservation and the other in socioeconomic research and community engagement.
Coral reef conservation research
Join world-renowned coral reef conservation specialists in Curieuse Marine National Park, with the exciting opportunity to contribute to vital research into endangered coral communities.
The research focuses on coral reef resilience by exploring a variety of methods to enhance the adaptability of corals to thermal stress environments. You would form part of the research team and be expected to collect, record and analyse data as well as participate in evening discussions and skills workshops to develop your career in conservation and engagement. Please note that you need to be an experienced diver to apply for this course.
Community engagement and social science training
Join our Praslin-based socioeconomic research and training team in the Seychelles. This team is assessing the impacts of coral reef decline on local communities in the area. This would involve hands-on training and you would be expected to collect and record data, as well as explore key elements of project research, design and delivery through a number of workshops, discussions and group activities.
Training aims
Both of these training opportunities equip early-career researchers, conservationists and environmental professionals with the skills and experience needed to further their careers in environmental science, education and/or community engagement.
