"The project has given me the opportunity to have some amazing days out, visiting stunning locations whilst contributing data to support ongoing ecological research."
Hugh Tooby, Capturing our Coast volunteer
Over the last five years, more than 10,000 people have worked with us on our fresh water, climate change, oceans and coasts and wildlife and habitats projects, creating important scientific knowledge.
As part of FreshWater Watch, approximately 20,000 samples have been collected from rivers, lakes and ponds worldwide. It would have taken professional scientists 11 years to conduct the same amount of research.
Through community programmes such as our urban wildlife project and Capturing Our Coast, even more people can unite around pressing environmental issues through hands-on activities.
