The EU-Citizen.Science project is creating a hub to help people across Europe learn more about citizen science and share best practices.
About the partnership
No one organisation or group can solve societal problems alone – we need to bring people together to tackle them.
At Earthwatch Europe, we believe that engaging people from all walks of life in research is part of the solution. During our history, we’ve already shown how much citizen science can contribute to environmental research. Citizen science also has benefits for the people involved, connecting them with their local community, and helping them to become guardians for the nature around them.
The EU-Citizen.Science project is building a central hub to spread knowledge about citizen science across Europe. It will act as a platform to share best practice and coordinate action between organisations. The project will also provide opportunities for people to learn more about citizen science, whether they are newcomers to the field or have lots of experience.
In addition, the project will make the most of the results from current and future citizen science projects funded by the EU, as part of its Horizon 2020 programme.
Earthwatch is a leader in citizen science, and we are proud to contribute to this new European project. We will be directing the work designed to increase engagement and awareness of citizen science among the public and policymakers. In doing so, we’ll be helping to embed citizen science across Europe for the benefit of the environment.
