“Nothing will ever match the 12 days I spent with Earthwatch” said Ivan Vince, who joined the ‘Climate Change at the Arctic’s Edge’ expedition in 2008. The expedition monitors the impacts of global warming on ecosystems surrounding Churchill, a small town on Hudson Bay at the front line of climate change.
“I’ve always been drawn to bleak landscapes but experiencing Manitoba’s climate in February was something else.”
In addition to climate change, Ivan has always been interested in air pollution. His expertise in pollution control was put to great effect in a High Court Case which helped prove that a local power station in Kent was polluting local crops.
Ivan’s daughter does her bit for the environment through her award winning books, while his grandson does his bit by constantly reminding her to turn those lights off to save the polar bears!
