GroundTruth 2.0

The Ground Truth 2.0 partnership aims to aggregate citizen science data in a useful quality-controlled space to influence change with decision and policy makers.

Earthwatch is proud to be part of the 14-partner consortium, made up of leaders in technology, public and policymaker engagement, citizen science and environmental research.

About the partnership

Six citizen science observatories in Europe and Africa enable citizens to share data about the environment and take on a new, crucial role in environmental monitoring, decision making, cooperative planning and environmental stewardship.

Earthwatch enables the customisation and upscaling of technologies and takes an active role in the Swedish citizen scientist observatory. The key challenge for the Swedish observatory is the deteriorating water health due to current lifestyle choices and consumption patterns. The FreshWater Watch toolkit allows people to monitor the ecological status and water health of a local fresh water body in the Mälaren area of Sweden.

Earthwatch partners with IHE Delft Institute for Water Education, HydroLogic Research, AKVO, Tygron, VITO, StarLab, Upande Limited, WWF Zambia, Gavagai, TAHMO-KEN, Altran, Centre for Ecological Research and Forestry Applications (CREAF) and the Stockholm University Department of Computer and Systems Sciences on this project.

Ground Truth 2.0 is led by the IHE Delft Institute for Water Education and runs for three years from September 1st, 2016. The project is funded by the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No. 689744.
