Earthwatch at 50: Stephen Hedley’s story
In 2016, Stephen Hedley spent two weeks volunteering on the Earthwatch pollinator conservation project in Costa Rica.
Having recently retired from research at King’s College London where he studied the impacts of air pollution in urban areas, Stephen was keen to contribute to nature conservation, something he has long been interested in.
Spending time in Costa Rica was like being a kid in a sweetshop explained Stephen who has long had an interest in nature: the neotropical biodiversity was incredible.
Since returning from the expedition, Stephen has continued to help increase our knowledge of nature by taking part in local wildlife recording schemes, marine surveys and citizen science initiatives in his local area.
